The wine that comes to mind is a spectacular 1995 Cha^teau Thivin from the Co^te de Brouilly that’s just $15 or less. It’s Gamay-based, very vibrant, and drinks like some of the Pinot Noirs from Santa Maria Valley--a lot of rich ripe fruit that just jumps out of the glass. It’s such an incredibly nice wine, you’d be happy to pay two or three times that amount.
