Events to Stress Need for Immunizations
To help parents ensure that their kids have the vaccinations needed to ward off childhood diseases, the Immunization Coalition of Orange County is sponsoring a series of events to celebrate National Infant Immunization Week.
Though Orange County has the second-highest birthrate in California, only a little more than half of the county’s preschoolers have the required immunizations, officials said.
So to get all children in the county “up to date by ‘98,” the coalition will have an event Monday at Ponderosa Park in Anaheim, 2100 Orangewood Ave. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., workers will give out immunization materials plus stickers for children, and remind parents to double-check their children’s records.
Other events during the week will include Preschool and Child Care Day on Wednesday, with presentations at numerous schools and day-care centers in the county. And Community Activities Day will be on Saturday, with events at several sites around the county to promote vaccinations.
