Olive Crest Homes & Services for Abused Children has published a free Child Abuse Prevention Manual.
Published in conjunction with National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the 45-page booklet provides an overview of the types and indicators of child abuse; positive parenting techniques; stress management; proper discipline; understanding children’s needs; and how to build respectful relationships between parents and children.
“Basically we want to show people good parenting skills and ways they can prevent child abuse within their families and the families of those they know,” said Erica Floyd, Olive Crest spokeswoman.
Olive Crest operates more than 20 residential group homes, licensed foster care and specialized education programs in Orange and Los Angeles counties and the Inland Empire.
Lucky Stores Inc. covered the manual’s printing costs.
Free copies can be obtained by writing or calling the organization.
