Police on Thursday arrested a second man suspected of being involved in the shooting of a Simi Valley man two days before.
Daniel Roberto Rodriguez, 18, of Simi Valley was arrested at a relative’s house in the 800 block of Royal Avenue at 9:30 a.m. A handgun police believe was used in the shooting was recovered at the house, Simi Valley Police Lt. Neal Rein said.
Rodriguez and 20-year-old Omar Bermejo were booked on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the shooting that left Michael Ronge, 26, critically wounded with a bullet lodged in his abdomen.
Bermejo was arrested Wednesday at his Fremont Avenue home in Simi Valley.
Ronge remains at Simi Valley Hospital in critical but stable condition.
The three men apparently had been arguing outside Ronge’s home on Elizondo Street.
“We’re still investigating and trying to determine what the motive was,” Rein said. “They had been acquaintances, but I don’t know to what extent.”
