LA PALMA — For its celebration of Arbor Day on Saturday, the city is seeking volunteers to plant trees, beginning at 10 a.m.
This year’s Arbor Day celebration is being held in conjunction with Orange County’s Volunteer Connection Day, said Mike Belknap, a city recreation supervisor. Trees, plants, shrubs and flowers will be planted at both Kennedy High and Walker Junior High schools.
City-sponsored events will include presentation of the Tree City USA award and announcement of contest winners in the Arbor Day coloring and poetry contests.
Belknap said that in addition to volunteers for planting, the city is seeking donations to purchase trees. Information: (714) 522-6740.
