Franklin Cary Salisbury; Cancer Foundation Founder

Franklin Cary Salisbury, 86, founding president of the National Foundation for Cancer Research. The fund-raising group has collected $150 million since Salisbury organized it in 1973. A lawyer and businessman, Salisbury started two companies, Atlantic Research, a manufacturer of solid rocket propellants, and Orbit, which produced electronic telephone equipment. He also helped create the International School of Law in Virginia, which is now known as George Mason Law School. On March 12 in Potomac, Md., of a heart attack.
