Buttell’s Double Lifts Camarillo in Seventh
Amanda Buttell’s two-out double scored Courtney Edge from second base in the seventh inning to lift Camarillo to a 4-3 victory over Agoura in a Marmonte League softball game Thursday at Camarillo.
Kathrine Navard (4-2) relieved starter Cindy Ball and pitched three hitless innings, striking out five.
Thousand Oaks 7, Channel Islands 0--Kim Martin (2-0) allowed a leadoff single in the fifth inning and finished with a one-hitter for the Lancers (6-1, 3-1) in a Marmonte League game at Channel Islands.
Kennedy 6, Taft 0--Sandra Durazo pitched a no-hitter, missing a perfect game by one walk, and struck out 17 for the Golden Cougars (10-1, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Brand Park in San Fernando.
El Camino Real 9, Granada Hills 4--Pitcher Ashley Redlin hit a grand slam and finished with five RBIs for the Conquistadores (8-3, 1-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills (5-5, 0-2).
Redlin (4-3) threw a three-hitter, striking out nine.
Chatsworth 23, Cleveland 3--Sharleen Rubin had three hits and three RBIs for the Chancellors (6-1, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Cleveland (3-3, 1-1).
Verdugo Hills 32, Hollywood 0--Gaby Robles hit a grand slam and finished with seven RBIs for the Dons (8-1, 2-0) in a Northern Conference game at Sunland Park.
Royal 8, Fresno Central 0--April Vaughn had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs and Stephanie Thomas had two run-scoring doubles for the Highlanders (6-6) in the first round of the Arroyo Grande tournament.
Harvard-Westlake 2, Village Christian 1--Val Alter singled home Sandra Aken in the sixth inning to lift the Wolverines (11-0) in a nonleague game at Harvard-Westlake.
Freshman Anna Russell (10-0) pitched a four-hitter and struck out 11.
Burroughs 11, Alhambra 1--Malia Sullivan and J.T. Tyler combined on a one-hitter for the Indians (10-5) in a nonleague game at Alhambra.
Sullivan, a freshman, struck out eight in four perfect innings before being relieved in the fifth by Tyler, who gave up a hit in the seventh.
Saugus 16, Palmdale 1--Nicole Giordano was four for five and the Centurions (11-3) had 20 hits in a nonleague game at Saugus.
Quartz Hill 6, Sultana 0--Jodie Cox pitched a one-hitter and notched her fourth shutout for the Rebels (9-5) in a nonleague game at Sultana.
