Gunman Sought in Canyon Country Bank Heist
CANYON COUNTRY — A masked gunman robbed a Valencia National Bank branch Monday, making off with an undisclosed amount of money, the FBI said.
No one was injured in the 2:20 p.m. holdup at 18539 Soledad Canyon Road, just west of Sierra Highway.
An FBI spokesman said agents are searching for the bandit, who was dressed in bluejeans and plaid shirt and wielded a large-caliber handgun.
According to FBI supervisor Gary Auer, after demanding money from the teller, the thief escaped on foot and it is believed he later drove off in a dark blue Bronco.
The gunman is also a suspect in the March 18 robbery of a Downey Savings & Loan branch in Lancaster, Auer said.
