May 28 is the deadline for entries to the visual arts competition at the Orange County Fair, open to all county artists. The fair runs from July 11-27 in Costa Mesa. Cash prizes will be awarded. The fine-arts division encompasses work in sculpture, painting, pastels, computer art, calligraphy, graphic design, blown and cast glass and china painting. Amateur photography divisions include monochrome, color, hand-colored and computer-manipulated prints. Professional photographers can enter work under the classifications of people, places, landscape, marine and architecture, plants and animals, and an “open” category.
