Inadvertent Air-Bag Deployment Probed

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating complaints by the owners of some Chevrolet Camaros and Mazda 626s that their air bags inadvertently deployed while they were driving. There have been six complaints of inadvertent or oversensitive air bag deployments on the driver side of 1991 and 1992 Camaros and nine complaints about air bags deploying in the 1995-96 Mazdas, the agency said. The agency also is investigating previous complaints of inadvertent deployments of 1996 GM cars as well as some 1995 Subarus.
