Donna Chessen Wins Americana Award

Donna Chessen, a City Council member from 1984 to 1994, has won the 1997 Americana Citizen of the Year Award from Cypress College.

College officials said Chessen’s community work extended far beyond her years as a city official.

She helped raise $50,000 while chair of the Buena Park Senior Citizens Fund Raising Committee, was on the city’s American Cancer Society chapter, worked on the Fine Arts Committee and held many other similar posts.

Those efforts also won her a Women of Distinction Award from the Soroptimist International and an Honorary Service Award from the PTA in years past.

Chessen is now a director of the Buena Park Boys and Girls Club and the Martin Luther Hospital Foundation.
