It’s Not Par for the Course: Notre Dame Beats Loyola
Notre Dame High defeated Mission League rival Loyola in golf for the first time in school history, 201-215, over nine holes Tuesday at Lakeside Country Club.
Nolan Lim of Notre Dame and Jack Lynch of Loyola tied for medalist honors by carding one-over-par 37s.
The Knights (6-0, 5-0 in league play) had too much depth, with no player scoring higher than 42.
Chaminade 249, St. Francis 251--The Eagles won a nine-hole Mission League match at Porter Valley Country Club that had to be decided by six individual scores from each team because the top five were tied, 205-205.
Danny Licursi shot a five-over par 40, and Joe Caravana, Nick Pagano and Camilo Landinez had 41s for the Eagles (6-5, 2-2).
Alemany 197, Crespi 208--Chuck Ruiz and Brian Woolf of Alemany shot two-over par 37s in a nine-hole Mission League match at Woodland Hills Country Club.
Hart 330, Agoura 369--Sophomore Jesse Honea of Hart (6-0) shot a three-over par 64 at Vista Valencia Golf Course. The top five Indians shot 67 or better.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Royal d. Agoura, 15-6, 15-0, 15-3--Nick Flanagan had nine kills and Steve Russell added five for the Highlanders (6-0, 5-0), the fifth-ranked team in Southern Section Division I, during a Marmonte League match at Royal.
Providence d. Yeshiva, 15-5, 15-8, 6-15, 15-3--D.J. Petcharamuk had 11 kills and Bobby Chalermsopone had five kills and 24 assists for the Pioneers (6-0) in a Liberty League opener at Providence.
Saugus d. Littlerock, 15-8, 15-10, 15-13--Matt Bradley had 30 kills for the Centurions (2-4) at Littlerock.
Crespi d. Crescenta Valley, 5-15, 17-15, 15-9, 15-4--James Spratt had 14 kills and Ryan Hill added 12 for the Celts (4-3) at Crescenta Valley.
Buena d. Oxnard, 15-10, 15-2, 15-8--Matt Prosser had 15 kills for the Bulldogs (5-2, 3-2) in a Channel League match at Buena.
L.A. Baptist d. Marshall, 15-3, 15-12, 15-8--Nick Kaprelian had 20 kills and Jonathan Pang added 15 for the Knights (2-1) in an Alpha League opener at L.A. Baptist.
BOYS’ SWIMMING
Ventura 93, Thousand Oaks 91--Dana Christensen won the 200- and 500-meter freestyle races and Jarrod Armour won the 100 butterfly, but the Lancers (3-2-1) lost at Thousand Oaks.
