ORANGE — An Orange man was in police custody late Friday after flying into a rage and beating his father and sister with a 2-by-4, police said. Both victims were in critical condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
It was unclear what sparked the incident, said Orange Police Sgt. John Whiteley.
“We got called out to a family disturbance and when we got there, we found two people down,” Whiteley said.
The suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, was identified as Luis Martinez, 31, Whiteley said. The names of the male victim, 84, and the female victim, 39, were not immediately available.
