BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

The 24-team Orange County boys’ volleyball championships this weekend at Marina and Huntington Beach High should provide an excellent preview of the county’s top teams. Nine of the top 10 teams will participate in the tournament, which begins Friday at both sites at 3:30 p.m.

The Division I field at Marina includes: top-ranked Esperanza, No. 2 Huntington Beach, No. 3 Santa Margarita, No. 4 Newport Harbor, No. 6 San Clemente, No. 7 Laguna Beach, No. 8 Corona del Mar, No. 9 Woodbridge as well as Edison, Fountain Valley, Irvine and Marina.

The Division II field at Huntington Beach includes: No. 10 Dana Hills as well as Costa Mesa, El Toro, Foothill, Mater Dei, Ocean View, Servite, Trabuco Hills, Tustin, University, Westminster and Whittier Christian.

Play will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at both sites and the finals will start about 3 p.m.
