From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Flooding forced evacuations and closed roads in western Washington state, the result of heavy rain and melting snow that also caused mudslides that destroyed two homes. At least 300 families were urged to evacuate in the coastal Aberdeen, Wash., area because of flooding along the Wynoochee River. Twenty people had to be rescued by boat.
