Saddleback Wins by 16 Strokes in Golf

Mike McGinley shot two-under-par 70 to help Saddleback to the low score in a four-team Orange Empire Conference golf tournament at Singing Hills in El Cajon.

Bill Bodensteiner shot two-over 74 for Saddleback (4-0 in conference), which had 373. Cuyamaca had 389, Riverside 403 and Cypress shot 419.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Cypress 4, Rancho Santiago 0--Visiting Cypress (32-3, 7-1) scored three unearned runs in the second and one in the fourth.

Jamie Wilkes (17-2) pitched a three-hitter for the victory.

Riverside 5, Saddleback 4--Saddleback played with only eight players after an injury in the first inning.

Treva Whitaker had a chance to tie the score in the bottom of the seventh. She drove in two runs with a triple but was thrown out at the plate trying to extend it to an inside-the-park home run.
