Clipper update--This opens a set with their two closest rivals for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff berth. The Clippers, who have a 1 1/2-game lead over the Suns, play the Sacramento Kings, with whom they are virtually tied, Wednesday night at the Sports Arena. The Clippers lost to the Suns by 16 points on Thursday at the Sports Arena.
Sun update--Phoenix has won its last three and seven of the last nine. Former Laker Cedric Ceballos, who had 26 points in his last game against the Clippers, has averaged 17.4 points in 29 games with the Suns. The Suns are 26-30 under rookie Coach Danny Ainge, who played for Clipper Coach Bill Fitch at Boston.
