Campaign Funding
The continued saga of the president, Congress, federal, state and local politicians in their pursuit of campaign funds is demeaning and not acceptable for their offices. In order to diminish the influence of contributions we should adopt new rules for campaign solicitations. We will never eliminate the purchase of access. However, the following proposals might help reduce the problem:
* No election funds will be accepted or solicited until 100 days before the election.
* Funds must be held in escrow and not utilized until 60 days before the election.
This may add to the time representatives give to performing their jobs. Also, it will reduce the political advertising blitz to 60 days prior to an election.
