Cut Can’t Stop Outlaw
Clipper forward Charles Outlaw was walking to the locker room with 4:28 remaining in the second period of Thursday night’s one-point loss to the Orlando Magic after Nick Anderson opened a cut above his left eye that was bleeding, when the officials summoned him back to the court to shoot two free throws.
Although players who are bleeding must leave the game, Outlaw would not have been allowed to reenter the game if he hadn’t shot the free throws.
Outlaw made one of two free throws before going to the locker room with trainer Ray Melchiorre. Outlaw returned after having a butterfly bandage put over the cut and had seven points, six rebounds and five assists in 21 minutes.
Outlaw, who got six stitches above his left eye, wore a bandage in Saturday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons.
