The Concordia women’s basketball team puts its 14-game winning streak on the line tonight against Biola in the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament.
Top-seeded Concordia (26-5) hasn’t lost since its conference opener. Biola (3-24) won only one conference game during the regular season and finished last, but upset second-seeded Point Loma Nazarene, 79-65, in the first round Tuesday.
Concordia beat Biola by eight points Saturday at Biola and by three at home in early February. Last season Biola knocked Concordia out of the tournament with a 82-72 semifinal victory.
Concordia is lead by senior forward Angela Sather, who this week was named conference player of the year for the second consecutive season. Sather averaged a GSAC-leading 20.9 points and was eighth in rebounding with a 7.8 average. Junior center Heather Carll, who averaged 13 points and 8.6 rebounds, was also named to the all-conference team and Coach Dave Wolter was named the coach of the year.
