Festival to Highlight Chinese Art, Culture

Cal Lutheran University will host a festival of Chinese art and culture beginning today and running until March 14. The festival will feature numerous art exhibits, painting demonstrations, a film screening and folk dances on the university campus at 60 W. Olsen Road.
Throughout the festival, an exhibit of Chinese ink-and-brush paintings will be on display in the foyer of Pearson Library.
On March 12, a variety of cultural events will be held at the university’s Preus-Brandt Forum, including a brush-painting demonstration at 7 p.m., followed by a martial arts showcase at 7:45 p.m. and an exhibition of traditional folk dances at 8:15 p.m.
On March 13 at 6 p.m., there will be a screening of the internationally acclaimed Chinese film “To Die” at Richter Hall, followed by a discussion led by philosophy professor Xiang Chen.
The festival is sponsored by the Chinese Art Assn. of Southern California.
