Buena Park Firm Among 13 Bought by Office Supplier

U.S. Office Products Inc., a supplier, said Wednesday that it bought 13 companies, including Office Specialties of Buena Park, for nearly $150 million in cash and stock.

The 13 acquisitions bring to 25 the number of companies acquired by Washington-based U.S. Office Products in its fiscal third quarter. Its fiscal year ends in April.

The company wants to become a single source of products and services to office managers in businesses with fewer than 60 employees, said Donald H. Platt, chief financial officer. U.S. Office Products said it’s also expanding in the areas of coffee services and computer and telecommunications services, as well as office supplies and furniture.

The 25 acquisitions represent more than $570 million in combined revenue, Chairman and Chief Executive Jonathan Ledecky said.
