High School Foundation Opens Drive
On the first day of its 1997 drive to raise $1 million from parents, alumni and businesses, the Corona del Mar High School Foundation on Wednesday already had collected $225,000.
Last year, the foundation raised $1 million just months after announcing its goal and used the money to pay for repairs at the school.
Old lockers were replaced, walls were repainted, carpets were steam-cleaned and both computer and language labs got new equipment.
This year, the foundation plans to renovate science labs, buy new desks, paint the interior of the school and pay for a college guidance counselor and computer teacher. If there is enough money left after all the trees are trimmed and the carpets cleaned, the group would like to put a new floor in the gymnasium.
