Frostbitten Twins Show Improvement

Three-year-old twin sisters who wandered out alone to play in the snow and almost froze to death were battling back to health, but doctors said they still had a long way to go. The two girls, who were found by police lying huddled together in deep snow without shoes or coats in freezing temperatures in Omaha last Friday morning, were still being treated for severe frostbite. Jennifer and Kourtney Woracek were improving, but hospital official George Reynolds said Jennifer had been “as close to dead as she could get.” Doctors upgraded her condition to fair from serious Monday.
