COSTA MESA — An 80-year-old woman suffering broken bones after apparently being hit by a vehicle was left lying by the side of the road Monday evening until a good Samaritan came along, picked her up and drove her to a hospital, police said.
Police were notified about 6:30 p.m. that the elderly woman, whose name was not immediately known, was being treated for severe injuries at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Costa Mesa Sgt. George Yezbick said.
The woman was found lying on the ground on Arbor Street near Monrovia Avenue, Yezbick said. It was not clear how long she had been there or exactly how she was injured, although police believe she was struck by a vehicle.
“We have no idea what happened,” Yezbick said. “Someone came along, saw her, picked her up and took her to the hospital. We’re out there trying to figure it all out.”
Police ask that anyone with information on the case call (714) 644-3730.
