SANTA CLARITA — A dog stranded on a 30-foot cliff Saturday was rappelled to safety by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team, authorities said.
The mixed-breed, brown-and-white dog bit one of its rescuers on the hand, officials said.
Sgt. Howard Slack of the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station said he did not know how the dog got up on the cliff near Sierra Highway and Remsen Street. A rope was attached to its collar but it did not have tags.
The male dog was turned over to officers from the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control shelter in Castaic, Slack said.
