Outlet a Bright Spot for Lamp Discounts

Lamps Plus has 38 stores in the western United States and only three outlet stores--in West Covina, Riverside and adjacent to the firm’s Pacific Coast factory in Chatsworth.

The Chatsworth outlet’s newly expanded close-out section features some excellent values. An eight-light chandelier that usually carries a $599 price tag was marked down to $199. A smaller five-light iron chandelier was also priced at $199, down from its regular retail of $499.

Several brass table lamps--shades included--that regularly sell for $99.99 were moving fast at $49.94, and a lovely 26-inch brass urn table lamp, also with a shade, was a definite deal at $39.94.

There’s a large assortment of wall fixtures, floor lamps, outdoor lamps and ceiling fans selling for one-third to one-half their regular price. Close-out items are all new but are “final sale” items, and thus not returnable.

Because Lamps Plus manufactures its own line of lamps at its Chatsworth facility, that line is often available at local stores at a factory-direct price. In the case of the Chatsworth outlet, there’s no shipping cost at all, so the prices are better than at most of their other stores.

For those of you who cannot find the exact color lamp to match your decor, Pacific Coast has a line of paintable ceramic table and floor lamps, mostly in the ginger-jar style, so you can stop looking for the perfect color and make your own.

Weekend Super Sales

There are some really hot sales this month at some of the Valley’s best bargain sources. The sale at My Fair Lady runs through the end of January and offers the lowest prices ever. Figure 30%-60% off the already heavily discounted fashions. In the blowout room, a two-piece washable silk outfit that retails for $70--and that regularly sells here for $39--is now marked down to $19.50. In the main room, Criscione suits that retail for $450-$550 elsewhere are now $150-$165.
