Mortgage Rates Mixed; 30-Year at 7.67%
Thirty-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 7.67% this week, up from 7.64% last week, according to a national survey by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. It is the highest level for the rates since Dec. 19, when they averaged 7.74%. On one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 5.56%, down from 5.57% last week. Fifteen-year mortgages, a popular option for homeowners refinancing mortgages, averaged 7.18% this week, up from 7.16% last week. The rates do not include the fees known as points.
