Assaults by Judge

* The judges of the Court of Appeals in Cincinnati who threw out the case of Tennessee Judge David Lanier, the judge who was convicted of raping two women (among 11 counts of sexual assault on women in his chambers), apparently need some continuing legal education (Dec. 27).

They were unable to find a “general constitutional right to be free of sexual assault” by public officials. Although my experience as an attorney is limited, I would refer the august judges to the 4th, 5th and 14th amendments. Perhaps they thought they had to find the right in the original text?
