COSTA MESA — A 46-year-old man suspected of being intoxicated while riding a bicycle was seriously injured Tuesday morning after he apparently ran a red light and collided with a car, police said.
Jeffrey Watson of Costa Mesa was riding north on Harbor Boulevard at Victoria Street about 9:30 a.m. when the accident occurred, Officer Michael Cohen said.
Watson, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered multiple head injuries and abrasions. He was in stable condition later at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, authorities said. The 19-year-old driver of the car was neither injured nor cited. Investigators at the scene arrested Watson on suspicion of drunk driving, Cohen said.
