Flintridge Prep 21, Capistrano Valley 15--Flintridge Prep’s defense shut down Capistrano Valley’s powerful offense and scored two touchdowns in upsetting the Eagles in a Division XII playoff game at Saddleback College.
Flintridge Prep (6-4) advanced to the second round, where it will play top-seeded Arrowhead Christian Saturday. The Eagles (7-4) scored first on a 22-yard field goal by Andrew Jennings with 6:45 left in the first quarter. But Flintridge Prep answered back on the ensuing possession on a 64-yard touchdown pass from J.P. Blecksmith to wide receiver Peter Twist to give the Rebels a 7-3 first-quarter lead. Flintridge Prep scored again midway through the second quarter, when defensive end Lawrence Park picked up a bad pitchout and ran 73 yards untouched for a touchdown.
