Luncheon Honors 190 for Their Work
The Volunteer Center of Greater Orange County honored 190 residents at its Spirit of Volunteerism luncheon this week.
Larry Higby, president of 76 Products Co., and his wife, Dee, received the Giving Is Living award for their work with more than a dozen nonprofit groups, including American Youth Soccer Organization, United Way and the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
Larry Higby is the founder of the Foothill High School Education Fund and president of the school’s booster club. Dee Higby chairs the Great Books program at Foothill Ranch Elementary School.
About 600 attended the event, sponsored by developers George and Judy Argyros, Coopers & Lybrand, Unocal and several other corporations.
Some of the recipients received $6,000 gifts for the charities of their choice.
The Volunteer Center of Greater Orange County connects residents and businesses with nonprofit agencies. The Santa Ana-based center, established in 1958, coordinates more than 30,000 volunteers a year.
