Southern Section Prelims Scheduled for Saturday
The Southern Section cross-country prelims begin 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
Five divisions will contest three heats each, with the top four teams in each heat automatically qualifying for the section finals Nov. 23. A finals berth will also be awarded to the fastest fifth-place team in each division.
Saturday’s first race--Division II boys--features six county teams, including Mission Viejo, led by Orange County champion Mark Gleason, and Santa Margarita, the Sea View League champion.
Dana Hills, county girls’ champion, will compete at 9:29 a.m. in Division II race No. 10. The Dolphins, the South Coast League champions, will face league runner-up Mission Viejo as well as Marina, Woodbridge and Santa Ana, among others.
The Santa Ana Valley boys’ team, ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division I, will compete in race No. 11 at 9:45.
