Heart Attack Hits Tiny Tim on Stage
Tiny Tim was hospitalized in serious but stable condition after suffering a heart attack on stage during a ukulele concert in Montague. The 64-year-old balladeer with a falsetto voice and long black hair was about to croon his first tune at the Uke Expo when he suddenly collapsed. “He just gets up on stage and he introduces the band, and then just out of nowhere . . . he just basically passed out. He fell straight forward, right on his face,” said John Petrovato, owner of the Montague Book Mill where the concert was held. Many in the audience of 135 were crying, and as Tim was taken to his ambulance, “people on the lawn started cheering and saying ‘Hold on Tiny Tim,’ ” Petrovato said. Tim was taken to Franklin Medical Center in nearby Greenfield, where he remained in the intensive care unit, a nursing supervisor said.
