Main Badminton Draw Begins Today
QuyenNguyen of Aliso Viejo and Djeelee Rangtung of Lake Forest advanced Monday to the main men’s singles draw of the U.S. Open Badminton Tournament at the Orange County Badminton Club.
Nguyen advanced on a default and will face Malaysia’s Pang Chen at 8:10 tonight. Nguyen also will play in men’s doubles with partner Marc Padre of San Diego against Paul Leyow and Roy Paul of Jamaica at 9:20 p.m.
Rangtung, who advanced by defeating Sean Girty of Canada, 15-4, 15-3, will play Suriname’s Oscar Brandon at 3:30 p.m. Rangtung and partner Narith Lao of Rosemead will face Chris Trenholme and Morten Auscher of Canada at 8:40 p.m.
