City Candidates to Appear at Forum
Candidates for City Council and city clerk in November’s election will take part in a political forum from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday.
Six candidates are vying for two open seats in the council race. Mayor Wayne L. Peterson and Councilwoman Kathleen Blackburn are seeking reelection and being challenged by Linda Small Athey, Ronald Harris, William S. O’Hare and Rickey Slater.
Verna L. Rollinger, who has been city clerk for two decades, is being challenged for the second time by R. Elaine Smith. City Treasurer Susan A. Morse is running unopposed.
The forum is sponsored by Village Laguna, a political action committee that has been active in local politics for two decades. It will be moderated by Don Pendergast, the group’s president, and televised for viewing at a date to be set.
