Retired ranch foreman Miguel Ramirez Banales of Oxnard died Saturday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was 74.
Banales, a Ventura County resident for 40 years, was born on Sept. 29, 1921, in Douglas, Ariz. A ranch employee for the past 25 years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Banales is survived by his wife of 55 years, Aurora Banales; sons John, Ernesto, Salvador and Mike Jr.; daughters Maria Del Refugio Martinez and Maria Odelia Banales; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of Oxnard.
A rosary will be said and a vigil will be held today at 7 p.m. in the Garcia Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until tonight’s services.
A funeral Mass will be said Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. Interment will follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary.
