David Priestley, a quarterback for Brethren Christian High, orally committed to attend Ohio State, Priestley said Wednesday.
Priestley, 6 feet 4, 200 pounds, was one of the top quarterback prospects in the state. He completed 144 of 256 passes last year for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.
Priestley is the seventh football player from Brethren Christian since 1990 to go to an NCAA Division I program. Priestley chose Ohio State, ranked No. 8 in the AP poll, over California, San Diego State, Hawaii and Arizona State.
“A lot of it is the coaching. I was there during the summer,” Priestley said. “I liked the facilities and the program is really great. It just looked like a good place to be.”
