Johnson to Make First NFL Start

Keyshawn Johnson, the top pick in the NFL draft, gets his first start Sunday when the New York Jets play at Miami. It’s something Johnson campaigned for--loudly--a week ago, but when it was announced Wednesday by Coach Rich Kotite, Johnson said it was no big deal.
“It’s important that I’m on the field,” the wide receiver from USC said. “I’m ready for a very busy afternoon.
“I came out and said that I want to play more. He granted me my wish and now it’s my turn. When you talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk.”
Johnson, who has six catches for 103 yards in two games, replaces second-year receiver Wayne Chrebet, who leads the team with 11 receptions.

Jason Kyle, a second-year linebacker, and Reggie Brown, a rookie fullback, went after each other not once but twice in spirited exchanges at the end of Seattle Seahawks’ two-hour practice. “That was better than the Tyson-Seldon fight,” Coach Dennis Erickson said. . . . Dale Carter, Kansas City’s two-time Pro Bowl cornerback, is working out at wide receiver while some of the Chiefs’ wounded pass-catchers let their injuries heal. . . . The Cincinnati Bengals signed defensive end Kenny Davidson, who was released by the Chiefs last month.
