Kurt Vollers, a Servite senior football player, has orally committed to attend Notre Dame next year, Servite Coach Larry Toner said.
“He hasn’t signed anything yet, but it’s my understanding they are sending him the scholarship papers in a couple of days,” Toner said.
At 6 feet 7, 268 pounds, Vollers plays on the Friars’ defensive line. Last season, he had 34 solo tackles (three for losses) and three sacks.
Vollers is also a track and field athlete, having put the shot 50 feet and thrown the discus 157 feet.

Tom Lippold, who plays basketball at Mater Dei, has agreed to attend the University of San Diego.
Lippold, a 6-foot-5 1/2 senior, was the second-leading scorer for the Division I champion Monarchs, averaging 13.4 points. He shot 48% from the floor. Lippold also led Mater Dei in three-point shooting, making 45 of 110 attempts (41%).
