New Computer Net for College Students, Staff
Students, faculty and staff members at Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College now have access to each other’s computer networks through a new Internet service called South Orange Net.
Installed by MCI, South Orange Net offers Windows and Macintosh users up to 28.8 Kbps access speeds, a technical support line, and billing and e-mail capabilities.
Subscribers will be charged $14.95 a month for 75 hours of online time. Additional hours cost 95 cents each. Users also will be charged a one-time set up fee of $14.95.
The new network is expected to serve about 30,000 people in the Southern California calling area, college officials said.
Information: (800) 394-6178.
