SANTA ANA — Alpha Microsystems said Tuesday that it is selling its Alpha HealthCare unit to a closely held Santa Rosa company and expects to record a second-quarter write-off of as much as $200,000 from the sale.
Alpha Microsystems agreed in a letter to sell the unit to Datacon Management Inc. for an undisclosed amount of cash, notes and other consideration. Alpha HealthCare of Eugene, Ore., develops and markets dental-practice management systems.
Alpha Microsystems, which provides Internet and intranet software, said the sale is expected to close within 30 days. In the year-ago second quarter, the company earned $42,000, or 1 cent a share, on sales of $8.61 million.
