Paraphrase
In the Aug. 22 story about loiterers in Santa Monica, former Santa Monica City Atty. Robert M. Myers is quoted as saying: “My reaction is to paraphrase Shakespeare” Myers said, bending a phrase from Richard III. “For God’s sake, let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of freedom in Santa Monica.” I believe the paraphrase is actually of a line in “Richard II.”
