Reno Air to Offer 4 Daily San Francisco Flights
San Francisco-bound air travelers will soon have another flight alternative out of Orange County. Reno Air, the Nevada-based discount carrier, will offer four daily round-trip flights between John Wayne Airport and San Francisco International Airport beginning Oct. 1, company officials said Monday.
United Airlines is the only major carrier providing service to San Francisco International from John Wayne.
“We’ve been looking at San Francisco for some time,” said Reno Air spokeswoman Sue Putnam. “We look forward to bringing some competition to that market.”
One-way fares from John Wayne to San Francisco International on Reno Air will start at $76 for a seven-day advance purchase. Walk-up one-way fares will range from $89 to $129.
Reno Air currently flies as many as 14 daily flights out of Orange County to Reno and San Jose. Putnam said the airline will trim some flights on its other routes to make room for the San Francisco service to stay within its allotted flights at John Wayne Airport.
