Firefighters discovered the bodies of a man and woman Thursday while putting out a blaze at an abandoned house in Hollywood, authorities said.
The fire in the 6500 block of West Franklin Avenue was reported at 1:47 a.m. Twenty firefighters arrived on the scene and extinguished the blaze in 21 minutes, said Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The man was identified as Steven Aslan, 31, authorities said. The name of the 27-year-old woman was not released. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, said Dean Gilmour, head of investigations at the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The bodies were found on the second floor of the boarded-up, two-story house, Humphrey said. The cause of death was not immediately known, authorities said.
Damage to the house was estimated at $75,000, Humphrey said.
