EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — John Nash, who recently rebuilt the Washington Bullets, on Wednesday was named the New Jersey Nets’ general manager of basketball operations.
Nash replaces Willis Reed, who was reassigned two weeks ago after John Calipari was named coach and director of basketball operations.
Nash has 15 years’ NBA experience, the last six with the Bullets as general manager. He pulled off a number of big trades for Washington, including a multiplayer trade that brought Chris Webber to Washington. He also engineered deals for Pervis Ellison, Don MacLean and Rex Chapman.
Nash also has done well on draft day, picking Juwan Howard, Tom Gugliotta, Gheorge Muresan and Brent Price.
