Registration Underway for City’s First 5K Run
Runners planning to participate in the city of San Fernando’s first 5K run / walk have until Friday to register for the July 6 event.
Registration is $15 per person, which includes a T-shirt and a gift bag of items from local merchants, said Ed Montan, director of the city’s recreation and community services department. Participants may also register on the morning of the run for $17.
The run will begin at 8 a.m. July 6 at the intersection of San Fernando Road and Brand Boulevard. The approximately 3.2-mile route will proceed southwest along Brand to the San Fernando Mission before returning to the starting point.
Montan said he hopes to make the run an annual event to raise money for the department’s youth services, such as swimming lessons, basketball and hockey. He said he hopes to attract as many as 400 participants to this year’s inaugural run.
Registration entries should be directed to San Fernando Recreation/Community Services, 208 Park Ave., San Fernando 91340.
