TEXAS : Secessionists Sued Over Bogus Liens
A secessionist group claiming to be the true government of Texas was sued by the state attorney general for flooding state courts with thousands of bogus liens and legal documents. Texas Atty. Gen. Dan Morales filed suit in district court against 26 leaders of the “Republic of Texas,” a secessionist group that claims the state was never formally admitted to the union and remains an independent country. Morales said the group had filed “hundreds, if not thousands” of bogus liens against state officials and private citizens. The tactics were similar to those used by groups like the Montana “freemen,” holding their own “common law courts” to issue liens and court orders.
