3 Ideas Really Fly for Motto Panel
The city is one step closer to having a motto. City staffers are now narrowing down 72 suggestions submitted to the Chamber of Commerce in the past four months. Interestingly, 60% of those ideas came from nonresidents, said Tom Facon, executive director of the chamber.
Of the suggestions, “Follow the Swallows to San Juan Capistrano,” “Our History Makes Us Unforgettable” and “Home of the Swallows” were chosen as the three favorites by a committee appointed by the chamber.
The committee then forwarded all 72 mottoes to the city, including its top three. “We wanted to give them the benefit of all of the suggestions that were submitted,” Facon said.
City staffers now must decide which of the mottoes best fits San Juan Capistrano’s ambience. After that, the City Council will give final approval.
