Julie Hume, director of curriculum planning for the Tustin Unified School District, has been named the 1996 Curriculum and Instructional Administrator of the Year for Orange County by a statewide school administrators’ organization.
The award makes her eligible for the Assn. of California School Administrators’ top award, the State Administrator of the Year, which will be announced in October.
Each year, the group recognizes outstanding achievement by an administrator, manager or employee based on leadership, creativity and innovation.
The award is a special one for Hume, who is retiring this month after 27 years in the district.
She began as an elementary-school teacher and served as principal of two elementary schools and a middle school before joining the district’s instructional services department in 1990.
